Mission: The mission of the Culture Coalition is to draw on southern Rhode Island's rich and diverse culture assets in order to create a strong identity and establish the arts and history as highly visible elements of the region's identity

Goals: To build a strong, vibrant Culture Coalition that contributes to the success of its member organizations and provides valuable resources and networking opportunities. To develop and promote artistic and historical events that enhance cultural tourism and education in Rhode Island.

Birthplace and Museum
The Gilbert Stuart Birthplace and Museum buildings are open Thursdays through Mondays (closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays) with guided tours given on the hour. Open 11 a.m. through 4 p.m. except noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays. Last daily tour is at 3 p.m.; Museum and grounds close at 4 p.m. Admission to buildings and tours is $7.00 adults and $4.00 children (ages 6-12); members free. The grounds and nature trail are open without charge but a donation would be greatly appreciated. Group tours are available by reservation. The grounds are available for rental for weddings, parties, photography sessions,. (See the website for more information.)
-- South County Museum The South County Museum's June hours are Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.Admission: $10 adults, $9 seniors and AAA, $5 children 6-12, chidren under 6 are free. Active duty miltary families and museum members are free.
-- Smith's Castle Smith's Castle is during June for public tours on Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 12 noon until 4 p.m.. Docents in period costumes conduct tours of the house at noon, 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00. ($6 for adults and $2 for children 6 through 12; free for childred under 6 and for members.) The Castle grounds provide a lovely setting for special occasions. Whether or not a fee is required, all such requests must be scheduled in advance. See the website.

Wild Flowers by Susan B. Hale, great-great-granddaughter o of Hale family patriarch Rev. Dr. Edward Everett Hale and great-granddaughter of Professor Edward E. Hale, Jr. Growing up in the foothills of the Adirondacks, Susan has been deeply influenced by the artists of the Hudson River School.
